About

Japanese you can say out loud.

Most of us can recognise a pattern on a page and still go quiet when a person is waiting for an answer. Yapanese is for that gap. The website is free Japanese you can use today. The app, when it opens, is the part that hears you try.

The sentence that dies in your throat

You already know pieces. You can read を. You have seen ください. You have whispered これをください at a desk, then frozen when it was time to say it to someone holding a menu.

That is not laziness. Reading a grammar point and producing it under a little pressure are different skills. A lot of study tools are excellent at the first one. They show you the table, mark the card, keep the streak. The moment that needs a voice — ordering food, introducing yourself, asking someone to wait — still feels like a different language.

We started Yapanese because that moment is the one we care about. Understand it, make a sentence of your own, then say it. If a page cannot get you to that last step, it has only done half the job.

How a lesson works here

A Yapanese lesson is one idea, used in a real sentence, then asked of you. Not a chapter. Not a dump of exceptions. You see the pattern, you write it, you try it out loud. Japanese puts the action last. ました is how you say you already did it. はじめまして is a first hello, not a vocabulary row.

Kana gets the same treatment. You can read the hiragana and katakana chart, then write the strokes from memory. The point is not to collect characters. It is to stop mixing ち and て when you actually need them.

What is free on this site

The website is a public reference. No account. No paywall. It reaches CEFR B2, so you can look something up past the first textbook and still find a sentence you can try. That claim is for this site. The app is a different, smaller range, on purpose.

  • Lessons on grammar, kana, and phrases you can reuse the same day — how to ask for something, how to say you want it, how names take さん.
  • Vocabulary lists tied to those lessons, so a word is not floating without a place to use it.
  • Practice games for kana, particles, verbs, replies, mistakes, and a word search. A few minutes, in the browser, when you want to check what stuck.
  • Guides when you want a longer explanation, or an honest look at other tools in a study stack.

Use the site whether or not you ever join the app. That is the deal. If you only needed a kana chart today, take the kana chart.

The app, and Yapi

The app is the speaking half. A tutor named Yapi listens while you answer, talks through the one you missed, and lets you try again. If you are stuck, he can explain, compare, or nudge. You can build a sentence, journal a day, or run a short call where he plays the waiter and listens for “this one, please.”

The app curriculum is CEFR A1 to B1. Beginner into the first stretch of intermediate. It is not trying to be every Japanese course on earth. It is trying to be the place you go when you already saw the pattern and need to hear yourself use it.

It is not public yet. The waitlist is how you hear when it is. Until then, the lessons and games are the real product on this site, not a teaser.

Who this is for

If you have been studying Japanese and you still rehearse sentences in your head instead of saying them, you are the person we had in mind. If you want a clean explanation of one grammar point without a login wall, you are too.

If you need a full university course, a native conversation partner every day, or a drill bank aimed at the top of JLPT, this will feel small. That is fine. We would rather be the layer that gets a sentence out of your mouth than a site that pretends to replace your whole stack.

Who makes this

YapaneseAI is a product of Kaizenic Ai Proprietary Limited, a small studio in Gaborone, Botswana. Kaizenic AI is the parent. There is no classroom in Tokyo behind the curtain. There is a team building lessons, practice, and a tutor that is supposed to talk like a patient person, not a scoreboard.

If something on the site is wrong, unclear, or unkind, tell us. Write to kaizenicai.tech@gmail.com or use the contact page. We read it.

If you want someone to hear you say it

The lessons stay free. Join the waitlist and we will tell you when Yapi is ready to listen.
